The upcoming Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed has started its final testing phase after its Monaco debut as a concept in May 2024. Prototypes of the sports car are undergoing testing in northern Italy before driving south to the Nardò test track.
The PureSpeed is a two-seater, open-top sports car without a roof or a windshield. Mercedes-AMG aims to clock in over 3,000km of testing with the prototypes. With this rigorous testing, the team will be sampling the car to see how it performs in real-world conditions. Engineers at Mercedes-AMG will also be refining the dynamics and high-speed handling of the sports car at the Nardò test track. Mercedes is partnering with Pininfarina to carry out testing on public roads.
The PureSpeed incorporates a motorsport-inspired HALO system replacing the conventional A-pillar. The German brand has also specifically designed two aerodynamically optimized helmets for the PureSpeed. Limited to 250 units, the PureSpeed harks back to legendary race cars and will be the first model in Mercedes-Benz’s new limited Mythos line-up.
