The Apollo Future Mobility Group (AFMG) has unveiled the G2J engineering prototype following two years of development on its journey toward a new electric sportscar.
The company’s advanced rolling engineering prototype is currently undergoing rigorous testing to validate and refine the vehicle’s powertrain, connectivity system and other technologies, with AFMG drawing on the experience of its engineering and powertrain development teams in Germany and Japan.
AFMG’s European research and development center in Ingolstadt, Germany, will lead the G2J’s continued development program, which includes the advanced testing of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber components which are being manufactured for possible future AFMG electric vehicles.
Further development and testing work is being conducted at AFMG’s centers of excellence in Japan, China and Europe on an ecosystem of connected services, which includes metaverse-enabled features.
The rolling G2J prototype was developed to gather information on dimensions and aerodynamic characteristics and the company states the current vehicle is not indicative of the first AFMG electric sports car concept, which is scheduled to be unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2022.
