New combined battery tester and battery emulator system

LinkedIn +

The new AVL E-Storage BTE is a combined system that can be used as a battery tester and battery emulator (simulator) to validate and test batteries as well as e-motors and inverters in early development phases.

The system offers high levels of dynamic performance with excellent measurement and control accuracy. It not only reduces the lifecycle testing time of the battery by up to 20%, but also enables the faster characterization of reliable and durable e-drive components.

The AVL E-Storage BTE is not only fully compatible with AVL’s engine and vehicle test systems but can also be operated in stand-alone operation. AVL’s integrated battery testing automation software, AVL Lynx 2, ensures the system is compliant with the requirements of the latest test run standards. This software is easy to use and facilitates the recording of reproducible measurement data across the entire development process.

Different battery models can be integrated into the system, which enables realistic battery emulation for e-drive testing. A simple internal resistance model, more sophisticated models with an AVL controller or AVL ARTE.Lab 4, and customer-specific battery models can all be integrated efficiently.
