Lightweight polymer air conditioning conveyence system

LinkedIn +

Power management company Eaton has developed new polymer air conditioning conveyance system (PACCS) lines as a lighter-weight alternative to traditional aluminum tubing or rubber lines.

The PACCS lines are up to 50% lighter than traditional air conditioning lines, provide improved gas tightness, and are 90% recyclable at end of life. Composed of a blended thermoplastic material, the PACCS lines are flexible, can withstand greater pressure, and offer greater chemical resistance to oil and refrigerant in high thermal conditions than traditional lines.

Other added benefits include the capability to replace formed hoses for packaging flexibility, 40% fewer components, and lower assembly cost thanks to Eaton’s snap-to-connect system that eliminates the process of screwing traditional lines into the system.

The PACCS can be used in passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses, harvesters and agriculture tractors.
