Automated vehicle test framework outlined in Spain

LinkedIn +

The Spanish Directorate General of Traffic recently outlined a framework for performing tests with automated vehicles in real driving conditions. This includes all requirements needed to authorize a vehicle, as well as the type of companies and institutions allowed to apply for the authorization in order to assure an adequate level of safety.

Applus+ IDIADA’s experience in this field includes the development and integration of perception, data processing and actuation systems in the vehicles, as well as the validation of the systems’ performance.

Through IDIADA’s participation in various research and innovation projects, its engineers have solid experience in performing real traffic condition tests with vehicles with automated functionalities, both on urban and motorway routes.

The proximity of IDIADA’s main technical center and proving ground complex provides favorable conditions (legal framework, scenarios capabilities, etc.) to perform real traffic tests in Spain for automated vehicles, as well as the opportunity for OEMs to carry out validation tests in a secure and controlled proving ground with connectivity capabilities.
