Pirelli and Aston Martin have announced that Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre technology will be integrated into the auto maker’s future vehicles.
Cyber Tyre collects data and information from sensors in the inner part of the tire’s tread, processes the data with Pirelli’s proprietary software and algorithms, and communicates with the vehicle’s electronics to create functionalities integrated within the driving and control systems. Cyber Tyre, developed in collaboration with Bosch Engineering, will be fully integrated within the electronic architecture that governs the vehicle’s dynamics.
Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology gathers information from the tires sensors which is then transmitted to an electronic control unit to support the optimization of vehicle dynamics. This enables the performance of the main electronic dynamic driving systems – including ESP, ABS and traction control – to be enhanced by a comprehensive set of tire data that was not previously available, the tire maker says.
