Millbrook transforms full scale crash lab to improve operational efficiency

Millbrook is undertaking a transformation of its full scale crash laboratory in the UK.

Since January this year, it has seen significant gains in operational efficiency as a result of undergoing a comprehensive lean conversion. The team has remodeled the flow in the laboratory, which is now being reflected in its upgrades.

These include a full refurbishment of the workshops, covered secure storage and secure receiving area and a new customer environment. The new electric drive system, which will be operational in December, will offer state-of-the-art speed tolerance control and reliability not matched in the UK.

The work has led to a number of improvements in customer service and test time reliability, as well as freeing up additional capacity for test work.

Millbrook carried out a demonstration in the newly refurbished laboratory during the Cenex-LCV event on September 12 giving a small number of visitors a first-hand understanding of the changes. This was followed by a Q&A from experts in battery testing and passive and active safety testing of hybrid and electric vehicles.
