Audi Motorsport has successfully installed a VI-grade DiM150 (Driver-in-Motion) dynamic driving simulator at its facility in Neuburg, Bavaria, Germany. Offering Formula E and DTM car cockpits, it will be used for fine-tuning of vehicles and professional driver training.
“Due to the increasingly strict regulations in motorsport there are only a limited number of test days allowed on track,” said Joachim Hausner, driving simulator coordinator at Audi Motorsport. “With our new DiM150 driving simulator, we are able to develop more efficiently and precisely in advance so that we are better prepared to go on real racetracks, and can improve our performance at the race.
“Not long after installation we were able to use the system for preparation for the upcoming Formula E season, starting on December 15,” continued Hausner. “There is still some work to be done to fully implement and integrate the simulator in our development processes throughout all racing series, but we see great potential in this driving simulation solution.”
