Automotive Testing Expo India Day 2: Ono Sokki India showcases sound and vibration analysis and highly accurate mass flow measurement for CO2 reduction

Ono Sokki India, a leading manufacturer of measurement and testing equipment, is in Chennai to highlight its O-Solution/DS-5000 sound and vibration analysis system and explain how its mass flow measurement solution provides accurate and reliable measurements of the mass flow rate of air entering the engine, thus playing a crucial role in improving the energy efficiency of internal combustion engines.

Discussing the company’s mass flow measurement equipment, application manager Suresh K, explained, “By precisely controlling the fuel ratio, the engine can operate at its optimum efficiency point, leading to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. Additionally, the solution is designed to be highly robust and reliable, ensuring accurate measurements even in harsh operating conditions. This can help to minimize maintenance and downtime, leading to improved operational efficiency and reduced costs.

“This solution has several features and benefits that make it well-suited for use in the context of the electrification of automobiles,” he continued. “It can be used in hybrid or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, which still have internal combustion engines. In these vehicles, the mass flow measurement solution can help optimize the engine’s operation and reduce fuel consumption, thereby improving overall fuel efficiency. It can help auto makers and suppliers meet increasingly stringent fuel efficiency and emissions regulations. By accurately measuring the mass flow rate of air and fuel, the solution can help optimize the combustion process and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Overall, Ono Sokki India’s solution is a versatile and reliable tool that can help auto makers and suppliers navigate the transition to electric and hybrid vehicles while still optimizing the efficiency of internal combustion engines.”

Also on display, Ono Sokki India’s O-Solution/DS-5000 sound and vibration analyzer system was developed in-house and designed to accurately measure and analyze sound and vibration in a wide range of applications, from automotive and aerospace to industrial and environmental monitoring. It uses a microphone to capture acoustic signals, which are then processed using Fourier transforms to convert the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain. The system can measure a wide range of acoustic parameters, such as sound pressure level, sound power level and frequency spectrum.

To analyze vibration, the O-Solution/DS-5000 uses accelerometers to measure mechanical vibrations. The accelerometers measure the acceleration of a vibrating object, which can be processed to calculate parameters such as displacement, velocity and acceleration.

Suresh said, “It is a powerful and versatile tool for analyzing sound and vibration in a wide range of applications, providing accurate and reliable measurements that can help optimize the performance and reliability of mechanical systems.”
