Ford’s Corporate Road Loads (CORL) system, based on nCode Automation was reaching end of life. It had supported engineering teams with measured proving ground data for over 20 years but could not meet future cloud technology and security requirements. While functional, it lacked flexibility for new data types such as CAN signals, and made navigation difficult within a vast data store (over 8TB), especially for users who didn’t know exactly what they were looking for. In response, Ford has modernized its CORL, working with the Aqira cloud-ready, configurable platform for test data management.
Aqira, supplied by Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK), reportedly improves on the previous system with a streamlined, customizable search experience and richer metadata, enabling engineers to quickly find and retrieve data in usable formats. The aim is to offer greater insight and efficiency in Ford’s next-generation engineering workflows.
Dan Clatterbuck, CAE/TEST engineer at Ford Motor Company, commented, “Aqira has been an extremely positive experience for our engineering teams. It’s a solution built by engineers, for engineers, allowing us to shape the system to fit our workflows and reducing our reliance on IT support.”
