A new modal and inertial shaker for vibration analysis has been launched by MB Dynamics. The Omega 1050 is available in the UK exclusively through CentraTeq, the company’s official UK distributor.
Designed to raise the bar in portable vibration testing, the Omega 1050 delivers a sine peak excitation force of 1,000N and a 50mm peak-to-peak displacement. Weighing only 35kg, it combines high performance with a compact, lightweight form — ideal for situations where easy transportation is key. Its size even enables it to be transported in the trunk of a typical mid-size passenger car.
The Omega 1050 can handle vertical payloads of up to 150kg. It operates across a wide frequency range, from DC to 500Hz, delivering consistent performance even under challenging loads. Its sturdy construction includes plain bearings that tolerate high lateral forces, enabling it to function reliably in both vertical and horizontal setups.
The shaker also features integrated pneumatic load support, along with temperature and laser displacement sensors. These built-in safeguards help prevent overheating and overtravel.
Another key feature of the Omega 1050 is that it can be powered using a single MB A2500 amplifier. This setup supports the simultaneous operation of up to two shakers, enabling both in-phase and out-of-phase excitation for testing larger structures. The system runs on a standard 230V AC power supply and requires only a 16A circuit breaker.
The standard package includes the Omega 1050 vibration exciter, the MB A2500 amplifier, the CU-4 control unit, a mobile 19in rack, 30m drive cables, status cables on cable drums, four 10kg reaction weights and a handheld compressor.
