Cross-industry electronic test and measurement manufacturer, Keysight Technologies has released more than 50 design and test solutions for automotive developers of electronic components and modules, including wireless, millimeter wave, high-speed digital, power and energy.
The company, which was originally founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard as HP, and spun off with Agilent Technologies in 1999 before becoming Keysight Technologies 2014, unveiled its suite of innovations at Automotive Testing Expo 2016, in Novi, Michigan, USA.
These include the E8707A radar target simulator solution, aimed at helping developers of advanced driver assistance systems; the E6950A eCall conformance test solution for both functional and standard-compliance conformance eCall test; and the U9403A mini in-circuit test, which maximizes customers’ test coverage by combining functional test with in-circuit.
“Keysight is excited to address the various design and test challenges and assist in moving forward the future of autonomous driving and more energy-efficient cars,” said Siegfried Gross, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Automotive and Energy Solutions business unit. “Our technical experts can help customers solve their complex test challenges to make our world safer, greener and more convenient.”
Specifically, the E6950A eCall conformance test solution simulates a public safety answering point (PSAP) and uses a wireless test set and RF signal generator to emulate a cellular network to provide global navigation satellite system (GNSS) coordinates. This is required by the in-vehicle system (IVS) to compile the eCall Minimum Set of Data (MSD).
The solution makes it possible to verify that the IVS modem is able to trigger an emergency call, send the correct raw MSD, and establish a voice connection with the PSAP. The test solution also gives developers the option of performing audio analysis.
“Based on European legislation, all new vehicles in the EU are required to support eCall by April 2018, whereas Russia’s ERA-GLONASS is mandating comparable capabilities by Jan 2017,” said Gross. “The new eCall solution is targeted to help developers in the automotive industry enhance their capability to release conformant and high-quality eCall products, while ensuring fastest time-to-market.”
Now available to order, the basic eCall system with the E5515C wireless test set starts at US$95,000, while the same eCall system with the latest UXM wireless test set starts at US$155,000.
Meanwhile, Keysight’s other automotive test solutions include: network bus testing solutions for the fastest triggering and analysis of new CXPI, BroadR-Reach automotive Ethernet, FlexRay, SPI, CAN, CAN-FD, and LIN protocols; a smart bench, providing a customizable combination of test software and bench test instruments; automotive power analysis solutions for optimizing AC/DC power supply and electronic load efficiencies for vehicular electromechanical systems and EVs/HEVs; automotive power device test solutions; manufacturing tests for advanced ECUs; and portable test tools including FieldFox handheld microwave analyzer, handheld LCR meter, handheld oscilloscope and TrueIR thermal imager.
