Formula Student is a yearly motorsport competition between universities across the globe which are challenged to design and create a single-seat racing car and present it to a manufacturing firm. The competition is organized by the UK’s Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and its aim is to inspire and develop young engineers and enable them to demonstrate technical, engineering design, and manufacturing skills.

Physical Digital is a 3D scanning service provider, which supplies GOM 3D optical measurement systems. The company has supported a number of Formula Student teams from British universities over the years. This year it worked with the Universities of Liverpool and Warwick on their racing cars, providing high resolution 3D scanning in order to improve their designs and providing analysis and testing of weight bearing.
