New diesel engine to be developed by Ricardo and Quanchai

Ricardo and Anhui Quanchai Engine, one of China’s largest diesel engine makers, are to develop a new generation common rail diesel engine platform for commercial applications.

Ricardo will support Quanchai in the design, development and calibration of the new diesel engine family, including sizes ranging from 2.5 to 3-liters, which will be used in both on- and off-highway applications.

The engines will be developed to the latest applicable China6 Heavy Duty and China Stage4 Off-Highway regulations, and will employ the Ricardo patented low soot Twin Vortex Combustion system.
