Audi is first to test automated vehicles on New York State roads

LinkedIn +

Audi has become the first company to demonstrate an automated vehicle in New York State, at an event held near the state capitol of Albany on June 13. The German OEM offered rides and demonstrations of the Audi Highway Pilot technology (SAE Level 3 automation) to legislators, staff, media and other stakeholders.

The vehicle was capable of automated driving at posted highway speeds when specific conditions were met. Two trained engineers were in the vehicle to monitor the system and ensure safety (one in the front seat and one in the back).

Audi’s demonstration vehicle has already safely logged thousands of miles on limited access highways across the USA.
