Manufacturer of software tools and embedded components for the development of electronic systems, Vector Informatik has incorporated support for IEEE standards related to automotive ethernet, specifically 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1 and 10GBASE-T1, into its VN5650 and VN5240 automotive ethernet interfaces.
Users have the option to configure the Vector ethernet interfaces initially or expand them to MultiGBASE-T1 using new physical layer modules. This enhancement facilitates simulation, analysis and testing for multigigabit applications.
A dedicated physical layer module (VNmodule60) has been introduced for the VN5650 and VN5240 interfaces, providing users with MultiGBASE-T1 support. The MultiGBASE-T1 ports are adaptable, allowing users to configure speeds at 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1, and 10GBASE-T1. The interface’s switches and TAPs enable flexible combinations with other ethernet standards, facilitating straightforward media conversion from standard ethernet to MultiGBASE-T1.
The VN5650 interface includes ethernet uplinks with 10GBASE-T or USB 3.0, establishing connections between Vector tools and the MultiGBASE-T1 network. Future plans for the VN5650 interface involve supporting MACsec and OPEN Alliance TC10 (Wake/Sleep) for data streams within the multigigabit range through a software update.
With the addition of the new physical layer module supporting MultiGBASE-T1, the VN5650 and VN5240 interfaces now comprehensively support all relevant automotive ethernet physical layer standards, ranging from 10BASE-T1S to 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1. The modular design of Vector’s interfaces allows for a flexible combination of these standards to meet diverse automotive ethernet requirements.
