Ansys docuseries details simulation’s role in optimizing vehicle design

LinkedIn +

Ansys, a global leader in engineering simulation, has released the first episode of Driven by Simulation, a docuseries showcasing how Oracle Red Bull Racing (ORBR) uses Ansys’s simulation solutions to deliver success within the Formula 1 World Championship.

The episode features interviews with ORBR’s team principal, Christian Horner, and head of strategic partnerships Zoe Chilton. A range of simulation techniques are also detailed, such as how ORBR’s team of engineers and aerodynamicists employ computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to better understand how forces affect fluid flow, such as how air travels over a car. Other subjects covered include meshing, where engineers start with a CAD model before breaking it down into smaller cells to view fluid flow over smaller vehicle components.

The entire series outlines the role that simulation plays across automotive innovation, efficiency and sustainability.
