VI-grade has announced that Chinese automotive manufacturing company FAW (First Automobile Works) has invested in one of VI-grade’s desktop simulators. The manufacturer hopes the simulator will help reduce development cycles and advance the digital chassis R&D capabilities of its luxury Hongqi marque.
The simulator will be installed at FAW’s headquarters in Changchun, China, where engineers seek to shorten development cycles by putting a focus on virtual objective chassis evaluation, chassis electronic control algorithm performance and tire dynamics testing and verification.
As it uses the same toolchain as VI-grade’s Static and Dynamic DiM Driving Simulator, the company has the option to move up to a more advanced simulator in the future.
“In the trend of the new four modernizations in the automotive industry, the driving simulator technology is continuously gaining importance,” commented Lun Li, manager FAW NBD chassis testing development at FAW Hongqi. “All the new technical concepts, such as digital twin, agile development and user-experience-driven innovation, are also driving forward virtual development technologies like driving simulators. FAW Group has been intensively involved in the field of vehicle and tire dynamics for many years and has extensive chassis testing and accurate modeling capabilities. Driving simulator technology research also has been going on for 10 years.”
