FEV, Beijing LiangDao Intelligence Automotive Technology and Ibeo Automotive Systems are collaborating to offer automotive professionals access to development and testing services for Level 3 and 4 automated driving solutions and ADAS.

As a long-standing engineering partner to the vehicle industry, FEV can provide a wealth of experience in ADAS and autonomous vehicle driving development, and identifies the main challenges of this as the wide range of boundary conditions such as weather, light and traffic situations that must be handled.

“The application of lidar technology is capable of improving the performance and reliability of perception significantly. Ibeo is a pioneer in automotive lidar applications – the integration of the company’s technology is highly beneficial. We combine FEV’s system expertise with Ibeo’s premium lidar technology and solutions. LiangDao complements our partnership with lidar testing and data management solutions. Through our competitive approach, we will decisively drive the progress and implementation of automated driving,” said Dr Thomas Hülshorst, VP intelligent mobility and software at FEV.

One of FEV’s assignments as part of the partnership will be applying Ibeo’s lidar solutions in ADAS and autonomous driving systems. Ibeo has been developing lidars with matching software solutions for ADAS and AD functions for more than two decades and the two companies have already previously cooperated on various projects.

Dr Ulrich Lages, CEO of Ibeo, commented, “Perception systems, especially lidar systems, play a crucial role in automated driving. We are very pleased with the confidence our partners have in our products and we are sure that we can help accelerate the development of ADAS and automated driving solutions by using our technology.”

LiangDao is joining the alliance as a specialist in the testing and validation of lidar systems, offering data acquisition solutions and ground truth tools for vehicle fleet testing. The company will also contribute its insights on the Chinese market, which is one of the key regions where automated driving tech is being adopted.

”The implementation of automated driving is only possible in cooperation with industry partners. For this reason, we look forward to working with Ibeo and FEV with great confidence. By combining our expertise, we will be able to offer safe and reliable automated driving systems to customers around the globe,” commented Dr Xueming Ju, CEO of LiangDao.
