A recent webinar hosted by Automotive Testing Technology International, in partnership with Vision Research, has provided an in-depth look at the use of automated image-based measurement technologies in automotive testing applications.
The session featured Kyle Gilroy, applications engineer at Vision Research, who demonstrated how high-speed cameras — capable of capturing thousands of frames per second — are used to analyze crash events in extraordinary detail. The webinar showcased how these imaging systems, combined with advanced software, can provide critical data on vehicle deformation, dummy movement and impact dynamics.
Gilroy discussed how sub-pixel tracking of fiducial markers enables precise measurements of displacement, speed and acceleration during crash testing — data that is essential for refining vehicle safety systems and improving structural design.
Held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00pm EST / 6:00pm BST / 7:00pm CEST, the webinar is now available online. To view the live recording, click here.
