Four new battery test cells under construction at AVL

LinkedIn +

AVL is in the process of building four new battery test cells at its electric mobility testing center. Each facility will cover an area of 400m2. They are expected to go into operation in spring 2018.

Within the new testbeds, test parameters are very flexible and enable an extremely high voltage and power, with fast temperature changes. They will be used for development of batteries up to 1,200V (450V batteries are currently standard, 900V for premium vehicles). Measuring 4.5 x 3.3m, the thermal chamber will provide the capability to test truck batteries, too.
