Finland remains open for business, and Proventia has opened its new battery testing facility.

The test center in Oulu is ready to run durability and performance testing of electric vehicle battery packs and modules.

Jari Granath, product manager of electric powertrain solutions at Proventia, said that many companies are postponing investments in test facilities but battery development and testing still needs to take place.

The center was originally built to demonstrate modular battery pack test cells but has been expanded to offer test services to customers lacking their own testing capacity.

Granath said, “We can run standard and customer specific charge or discharge test cycles, or we can test energy and capacity, power and internal resistance, cooling and heating performance and overcharge or discharge protections. Tests in our climatic test chamber can be conducted at temperatures ranging from -40C to ±80C.”

Another advantage according to Granath is that the test lab is located outside Proventia’s main building.

“This has helped us to organize the work so that the health, safety and welfare of our experienced test engineers is considered during the pandemic. For customers, we offer live access to monitor their tests 24/7 and support them in all other issues varying from logistics to full test arrangements,” he said.
