AVL has established a new development center with direct access to the AVL ZalaZone proving ground, which is in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. The 1,340m2 engineering center provides offices for 150 experts, space for more than 50 test vehicles, prototype garages and cold climate chambers.

AVL Hungary will use the center to carry out powertrain and full vehicle testing (both on public roads and the test tracks), development and evaluation of ADAS and autonomous drive technology, and vehicle dynamics work such as braking and steering performance analysis.

“With the new vehicle engineering center, AVL has established a unique facility for the development and validation of future vehicles in Zalaegerszeg. From today, we are part of the ZalaZone ecosystem,” stated Helmut List, chairman and CEO of AVL List.

Dirk Janetzko, managing director of AVL Hungary, added, “With the combination of a high-tech testing environment and outstanding AVL expertise, we can meet the challenges of a safe and sustainable mobility.”
