Show news: Moog debuts newly expanded test controller

Visitors on Day 2 of Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2019 learned about the latest additions to Moog‘s Test Controller unit, which was first introduced at last year’s show and has been expanded with newly integrated data acquisition modules to make vehicle testing easier for laboratories.

“We have added two modules – one with a variety of sensors that are strain gauge-based, from loads cells, accelerometers, and pressure transducers to strain gauges themselves. The other component is a general-purpose IO unit for analog signals that can pass back and forth,” said Moog’s Craig Lukomski, former engineering manager for test systems who has since become solutions commercialization manager. “Any type of sensor can be connected to the device and engineers can either use the information as data or use it as feedback in a control loop.”

Lukomski went on to explain how the update has given customers the flexibility to go beyond having a simple Test Controller to being able to run a test with data acquisition. “The new modules are more universal and testers no longer need to purchase additional modules, so it’s a more cost-effective solution.”
