The free-to-attend exhibition has kicked off with gusto, with visitors diving in to explore solutions designed to drive technological progress and sharpen their competitive edge. This year, the focus extends beyond simply gathering knowledge. The event is highlighting cutting-edge technologies and services, but also strategic, practical frameworks to help developers navigate unexpected changes, address market volatility and stay compliant with evolving standards and regulations. It is doing so through a variety of content streams running throughout the show, which is taking place alongside Automotive Interiors Expo North America, giving attendees a rich mix of insights and inspiration.
Exhibition content
The exhibition features a broad range of exhibitors covering the key themes in today’s automotive industry – specifically powertrain testing, ADAS and AV analysis, safety and reliability. With powertrains at the heart of the vehicle and the sector undergoing rapid change, there is naturally a strong emphasis on this area.
Additium, which has recently gained a foothold in the US market having established a strong presence in Europe and Asia, is presenting its state-of-the-art pre-brake capability for full-scale crash test facilities. This system can be supplied as new equipment or used to upgrade an existing lab, even if the lab was not originally provided by Additium.
Jorge de Goyeneche, business development director at Additium, said, “We are now very focused on pre-brake simulation, not only for real crash tests but also for the new generation of e-sleds, which we will release soon. These sleds can reproduce real crash behavior, considering the full kinematics of the vehicle and its occupants.”
According to de Goyeneche, virtual testing has become an essential tool in vehicle safety development in recent years. Therefore, the supply of highly accurate data for the simulation models is critical to validate the results. “That’s why pre-brake will be a need for everybody to improve virtual testing models,” he added.
Next year will see an evolution in pre-crash braking requirements in testing labs related to AEB, beginning with mandatory regulations from C-NCAP. “A major factor supporting this progress will be the advanced performance provided by linear electric motor technology, applied to passive and active safety testing,” de Goyeneche commented.
Still to come…
The Innovation Showcase is running until 5pm today, and on Thursday, October 23, from 10am to 1pm. Speakers are presenting innovative concepts, prototypes and future trends in automotive testing, and include representatives from dSPACE, Calspan, openDAQ, Vibration Research, NI and Emerson.
At 10am on Wednesday, October 22, ATTI will open the one-day Future of Automotive Testing Conference, which will cover various themes within vehicle development.
The conference will begin with an onstage interview with Jon Quigley, ATTI’s columnist. He will explore the topic of testing transparency, covering testing objectives, what transparency means in the context of vehicle development and how to manage the tension between failing to act and panicking too soon, among other issues.
The conference will also feature a high-level panel discussion titled ‘Testing software-defined vehicles’, with speakers from PG Mobility Analysis, Stellantis, Rohde & Schwarz and Tata Technologies.
Meet ATTI at the show
As the official publication of the show, ATTI is playing a central role. Beyond the conference, the magazine will report on announcements from the expo and the notable themes and challenges being discussed. As a communications platform, ATTI aims to connect industry players, so anyone wishing to share an observation or pain point is welcome to do so. The November edition of the magazine will cover digital twins, sensor developments, hardware-in-the-loop analysis of E/E systems and proving grounds, to name just a few themes.
Meet the team at Booth 5046.
