Job Description:
This position is for a controls engineer, working on computerized data acquisition and control systems for custom vehicle and aerospace test equipment. This is not a purely office-based position, as considerable hands-on, factory-floor and customer-site work is required, generally in product testing and customer training.

This position requires knowledge of machine control design and documentation, development of control wiring, circuit and schematic drawings. Selection of machine control components with respect to electronic sensors, D/A hardware, actuators, motor drives, embedded controllers, PLCs, VFDs, etc.

To be successful in this position, you will need to be both interested in and able to understand electro-mechanical systems using computerized data acquisition and control systems. Since every system is custom-made, considerable hands-on testing is required on the factory floor and at customer’s site. You will need to be willing and able to run machines, and able to proficiently run machines and avoid damaging them during initial startup.

Educational Requirements:
BS EE preferred
BS Computer Science / Math or similar considered
Profession Engineer – preferred
Ability Requirements

Software: EPLAN, AutoCAD
Component selection of: VFDs, PLCs, embedded controllers, sensors, actuators, cabling, connectors, enclosures, D/A and control hardware
Design of: machine control systems, control enclosure layout & wiring, control circuits, data collection systems,
Creating drawings of both logical schematics and physical system.
BOM and purchasing documentation
Electrical noise management and trouble shooting
Factory-floor testing, diagnosis and correction of both design and build errors
Perform calibrations, run machines, etc.

Travel Requirements:
We build one-of-a-kind custom systems to customer requirements, which generally requires some on-site startup and training. Thus, travel to customer sites is required, typically 3-6 trips per year, 1-14 days per trip, with some to international destinations.

Documentation requirements:
US citizen, no felonies, no more than 4-points on driver’s license, passport eligible.
