Road safety specialist DEKRA North America is to unveil six vehicle emissions facilities in Mexico, the first of their kind from the company.
The new inspection stations offer a total of 42 lanes and will open in Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city located in the State of Jalisco. DEKRA was awarded 100% of all diesel inspections in Guadalajara, which covers all bus fleets in the region. The launch will take place in March 2021.
The Mexico launch is the result of a collaboration with global specialists and the same vehicle inspection team that today runs what DEKRA describes as the largest private emission check operations in the USA.
DEKRA’s emissions testing ensures that the exhaust emissions of diesel engines or gasoline engines with regulated or unregulated catalytic convertors meet all reference values using state-of-the-art gas analyzers and opacimeters. The tests identify and eliminate any deviation in the vehicle’s exhaust system. The result: emissions are reduced and pollution prevented.

The government of Jalisco will brand the six new stations and DEKRA will operate them.
As a member of the Under2 Coalition, the State of Jalisco is committed to reducing emissions by 80-95% by 2050.
