Toyota and Subaru are to jointly develop a platform architecture for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), suitable for application in midsize and large passenger vehicles, as well as a C-segment BEV SUV model for sale under each company’s own brand.
The alliance between the two will bring together Subaru’s all-wheel-drive technology expertise, which it has cultivated over many years, and Toyota’s vehicle electrification knowledge.
Building on their already existing collaborative ties, the agreement is said to represent a new area for the two through the partnership focusing on electrification.
The platform will be developed in such a way that it will be broadly applicable to multiple vehicle types, including C-segment and D-segment sedans and SUVs.
