G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration is located in Denmark and founded by the Danish acoustics pioneer, Gunnar Rasmussen, who for more than 60 years has contributed to the world of sound and vibration with his unique ideas and designs.

G.R.A.S.’ standard products cover all front-end equipment from the transducer to the input of the acquisition equipment. All designed and manufactured according to international standards needed for the precise and reliable measurement and mapping of acoustic signals.

At G.R.A.S. we know that all our customers are individuals. They all have different needs and requirements that are driven by the ever changing world we live in. Our goal is to ensure that you have the right measurement microphone for your application. Whether this is met by a standard, special or customized microphone solution, our priority is always to help you achieve the best possible measurement results - every time.

We know that to trust your measurement results, signal quality, stability and robustness are essentials. And because we also know how you handle and use the microphones in your daily work, we design and build them to perform under real life conditions – and beyond.

Acoustic Sensors for aeroacoustic measurements

For our wind tunnel users, we have made an acoustic sensor program that has been designed to help you achieve correct, reliable and repeatable results and to improve your workflow.

The turbulence screen microphone is the latest G.R.A.S. innovation for wind tunnel aeroacoustic testing. It is designed in close cooperation with the industry combining the flush and recessed mounting techniques into one unit. The unit is mounted with a special mesh that will reduce the flow-induced noise and let the sound enter unobstructed. The microphone diaphragm is recessed into a conical ditch that is optimized acoustically.

The flush-mount microphone is a G.R.A.S. concept that opens up new opportunities when it comes to testing and mounting. The form factor is now so small that the microphones easily can be mounted in wall-, line- and plate-array configurations without compromising array heights and consequently generated turbulence.

The G.R.A.S. high-precision surface microphone is originally designed for in-flight testing, where non-invasive mounting is a must. They are therefore also very suited for in-flow testing of full-scale objects in wind tunnels.

The wind tunnel program is a range of off-the-shelf measurement microphones with flat-frequency response, wide dynamic range and sensitivity that match your input modules’ capabilities. If these selected properties do not fulfill your special requirements, our long established knowhow enable us to modify and tailor the sensor to exactly your application.

The sensor technology is based on our refined and proven measurement microphone designs, carefully selected materials, highly accelerated lifetime testing (HALT) and a unique understanding of accuracy and craftsmanship in every phase of the creation of the perfect sensor.

This technology, combined with an open and professional dialogue with dedicated aeroacousticians and technicians have born new concepts that have become the natural choice of leading aircraft builders and wind tunnel test houses.

Unique repair service
Should you damage the diaphragm during mounting or testing, we can exchange it without having to discard the whole microphone.

Worldwide partners
Whether you are searching for a multi-channel solution, a replacement microphone or a customized sensor design, your local G.R.A.S. partner will in close cooperation with us be able to solve your measurement needs.
